Sugar is the Enemy. Train Your Brain to Quit Sugar

Sugar is the enemy, but the addiction is real and many people regularly consume high amounts of sugar in processed foods such as cakes, biscuits, sweets, jam, granola bars, and soft drinks. Sugar is also found in more unexpected products such as peanut butter, commercial sauces, breakfast cereals, bread, and so-called natural fruit juice drinks. Here is our 3-step plan to stop sugar cravings.

Therefore the question must be asked: What does sugar actually do to your body and why is our enemy?

Refined sugar is an easily digested carbohydrate that is converted by the body into glucose. This leads to a rapid increase in blood sugar levels, which provides a short burst of energy. However, this is quickly followed by a drop in blood sugar levels, which causes fatigue and dizziness. If this cycle is repeated on a regular basis, there will be serious negative consequences for health.

Here is our 3-step plan to stop sugar cravings:

Read the food label and find hidden sugar

You must decide what goes into your body, and what does not. Any food product that is processed and packaged, runs the risk of containing sugar. It is important therefore to be informed as possible about how sugar may be labeled on products. Refined sugar may be labeled in different ways: white sugar, brown sugar, fructose, sucrose, dextrose, high fructose corn syrup or malt syrup. If you see any of these words on your product label, you would be well advised to make a positive decision for your health, and leave it on the store shelf.

Take care of what you drink

Well-intentioned people, trying to choose healthier drink options, may opt for store-bought fruit drinks or smoothies. Be warned, however – these too can have high sugar content. Always check the label and do not rely on a packaging label that markets the product as healthy as these can be intentionally misleading. The most health-promoting drink is water – preferably purified or mountain spring water. Water rehydrates the body, increases mental alertness, and has no detrimental side effects on blood sugar levels.

Eat a healthy diet – switch junk food for health foods

Sugar is the Enemy. Train Your Brain to Quit Sugar

A common misconception is that consuming a healthier diet will be more costly, but this is untrue. In fact, as you begin to cut out sugar-containing products from your regular food shop, as well as fast food and store-bought sugary snacks, you will realize that money you previously spent on junk food, can be used to purchase healthier items, and you may still even have some extra cash leftover afterward. Your taste buds will begin to come alive as you introduce more freshly prepared meals and healthy foods into your diet, and your preferences will naturally change. You will soon develop a distaste and aversion to high sugar foods as you experience the health benefits in your mind and body, and these will encourage you to continue with your healthy diet.

Conclusion – why sugar is our enemy and why we should quit sugar?

A high level of sugar consumption has been linked to numerous diseases. These include obesity, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease and dental problems such as cavities. Research has also suggested a connection to cancer. Sugar can also negatively impact mental and emotional health, impacting conditions such as depression, anxiety, and hyperactivity. Furthermore, sugar accelerates the aging process and compromises the function of the immune system in fighting disease. Sugar is the real enemy! I hope our 3-step plan to stop sugar cravings will help you. Therefore we strongly recommend that you train your brain to quit sugar.
